Haiti - Technology : Digicel faced with an accidental rupture of optical fiber

Digicel informs its customers that it has faced an accidental breakage of optical fiber in Chalon, near Miragoâne, which occurred during road infrastructure works. As a result, customers in Les Cayes and Grand'Anse had some difficulty accessing mobile services between April 26th at 11:00 am and April 27th at 7:30 am. The service is gradually being restored and the technical team continues to work tirelessly to stabilize the situation and prevent further cuts on this road.

In conjunction with a full investigation of this incident, Digicel and the relevant infrastructure companies have put in place coordination measures to limit the likelihood that similar incidents will occur in the future.

Digicel informs that its customers who could not access the mobile and internet services during the network outage will be compensated for the inconvenience.

Prepaid customers will receive 100MB and 20 minutes to Digicel to retrive free on the menu *500#, while WIMAX and postpaid customers will receive a discount on their bill.
