On April 6th, at the Paul Chonchon Sports Hall in Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, Merlenka Silencieu, Champion of the 2017 "podium écoliers 2017" singing competition in Haiti, competing with 8 other finalists in the "Défi lycéens" talent contest, from Guyana, Martinique, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Saint-Martin, finished brilliantly at the foot of the podium in fourth place.

Rannking : 1st Guadeloupe, 2nd Trinidad and Tobago, 3rd Suriname.

"I am satisfied with my performance. While I'm not champion, but it remains that I keep a good memory of this experience "declared our national finalist. No trophy certainly for our talented singer Merlenka who interpreted "Gonaïves" of the famous Caribbean singer Orlane, but she was able to converge hearts and get all the favor of an audience that did not hesitate to sing in chorus with her.

An interpretation that impressed the great pianist Michel Mado also musical director of the contest who believes that Merlenka will undoubtedly become an icon of Haitian music comparing it to a future Toto Bissainthe.
