Earthquake in Nippes

The Directorate of Civil Protection informs us that "Sunday the earth trembled in the Nippes. The quake was felt in at least 4 communes of the department: Anse-à-Veau, Azile, Arnaud and Petit-Trou de Nippes, causing a beginning of panic. No damage has been reported yet."

Volleyball, Haiti shines at CAZOVA

As part of the 11th edition of the Caribbean Regional Tournament (CAZOVA), the Haitian U-21 Volleyball Selection is back in the competition in a very nice way by beating one of the tournament's favorites: Trinidad and Tobago by 3-0 (25-23; 25-21; 25-19). New victory for the Haitian Under-21 volleyball team by beating Suriname 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 24-26 and 25-23). This Monday, April 2 at 11:00 am Haiti will face Martinique.

Sample of coral fragments in Port-de-Paix

At the head of a team from the Bureau of Mines and Energy (BME), Engineer Mildor Saint-Louis was on March 23-25 in Port-de-Paix (North-West) to collect samples of several fragments of coral reefs on the "Haut Fourneau" beach. The delegation traveled most of the coast of the Bay of Mosquitoes and Port-à-L'écu.

The Mission of the International Adoption in Haiti

First Lady Martine Moise received a French delegation from the Mission of International Adoption (MAI). The delegation welcomed the legislative progress made by the Haitian authorities with regard to child protection and adoption. The MAI also met with Senate President Joseph Lambert, Vice-President Pierre François Sildor and Senator Jean Renel Senatus to discuss current legislative work on child protection, in particular the framework law of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR).
