On Wednesday, March 14, just days before the International Day of Happiness at the United Nations (March 20), at a launching ceremony at the Vatican Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the Global Network "Global Happiness Council" (GHC) has published the "World Happiness Report 2018", an annual publication of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network that assesses 156 countries where citizens are happiest with the most well-being.

This report takes into account aspects such as perception of corruption, quality of life, GDP per capita, life expectancy, generosity and freedom to take decisions.

In its report evaluating 19 Latin American countries, we learn that the country whee citizens are the happiest is Costa Rica while Haiti ranks last, as the country or the citizens are the least happy.

Ranking Latin America in descending order (19 countries) :

1 - Costa Rica (13th world), 2 - Mexico (24th world), 3 - Chile (25th world), 4 - Panama (27th world), 5 - Brazil (28th world), 6 - Argentina (29th world), 7 - Guatemala (30th world), 8 - Uruguay (31st world), 9 - Colombia (37th world), 10 - El Salvador (40th world), 11 - Nicaragua (41st world), 12 - Ecuador (48th world), 13 - Bolivia (62nd world), 14 - Paraguay (64th world), 15 - Peru (65th world), 16 - Honduras (72nd world), 17 - Dominican Republic (83rd world), 18 - Venezuela (102nd world), 19 - Haiti (148th world).

World ranking of 156 countries :

The country where citizens are most happy is Finland with a score of 7.632, the Dominican Republic is ranked 83rd with a score of 5.302, Haiti is in 148th position with a score of 3.582 and the country where citizens are the most unhappy s Burundi (Great Lakes region of Africa), ranked last (156) with a score of 2,905.
