Haiti - RD : Nearly 7,500 Haitians deported to Haiti or turned back

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) revealed that during the month of February 2018, 7,598 foreigners (mostly Haitians) were repatriated or not admitted to the Dominican territory because of their irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic.

According to the DGM report, of this number, 3,140 were not admitted or turned back during their attempt to enter the country at the border, while 4,458 migrants in an irregular migration situation were arrested during dozens of operations n various provinces of the country, on the orders of the Director General of the DGM, Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado and deported most of them to Haiti.

According to the DGM in addition to Haitians, other foreigners whose number has not been specified, from Afghanistan, Albania, China, Colombia, Cuba, Great Britain, Honduras, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Turkey and Venezuela were also reportedly deported.
