Wednesday during an operation in the historic center of Santiago and avenues Estrella Sadhalá, 27 de Febrero among others, immigration inspectors accompanied by members of the army of the Dominican Republic arrested more than 250 Haitians in situation of irregular migration and seized dozens of fake cards of the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE), as well as false visas and Dominican identity cards (cédulas) that were in the hands of Haitians, according to the reports of the immigration and military authorities.

Most of our arrested compatriots who will be repatriated to Haiti, were dedicated to the sale of different products at traffic lights, in the streets, avenues and public places, an activity prohibited by the mayor for both Haitians and for the Dominicans without a patent in good standing.

Recall that the hundreds of thousands of our compatriots in irregular migration in the Dominican territory, who risk expulsion at any time, are easy prey for networks of counterfeiters of Dominican and Haitian thugs, who get richer by selling at a high price PNRE cards that are immediately discovered during a biometric check. Remember that these falsified cards that usually usurp the identity of a Haitian regularly registered with the PNRE, lead to the expulsion of the holder but also to the exclusion of the PNRE and the expulsion of the real owner if the latter does not can prove that he has filed a prior complaint for the theft of his card.
