Haiti - Sports : Passing of the former captain of the national team, Claudel Legros

The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) has learned with sorrow the death in France on January 30 of former captain and sports director of the national team, Claudel Legros.

"[...] The former center-back has marked a period in Haitian football's history, starting as a young man on the national team in the 1954 FIFA World Cup playoffs to continue his playing career until the World Cup qualifiers Mexico 1970 where the selection was at the doors of the qualification, failing at the barrages in Kingston against El Salvador in October 1970.

Claudel was a model of discipline, passion, love of work at the service of the game and for his country; After a noticeable debut at Victory du Bas peu de choses Claudel emigrated quite young in France and made a brilliant and long career in professional French football with AS Angoulême.

[...] He was a great servant of Haitian football, the first to enjoy great respect throughout France where he had lived for more than half a century after a brilliant career and a busy life.

The FHF bows in front of the mortal remains of this huge Grenadier TOUP POU YO, of this great compatriot and prays to his parents, his family and all his old comrades still alive of the epic of the World Cups 70-74, Pierre Bayonne, Claude Barthelemy, Marion Leandre, Eddy Antoine, Wilfrid Louis, Fritz André, Serge Ducoste, Henri Francillon, Roger Sainvil and the others to receive a huge 'aux champs' and to accept the expression of his heartfelt condolences.

Thank you Claudel and Bon voyage! ;

May God welcome you to his home

FHF, February 3, 2018 !"
