Haiti - Elections : Brazil gives $300.000 for the second round

Ambassador Antonio Patriota, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil will arrive tomorrow in Haiti for a two-day visit.

According to a diplomatic source in Brazil, Antonio Patriota will meet during his stay, President René Préval, Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive, and presidential candidates of the second round, Michel Martelly and Mirlande Manigat.

During these meetings the Foreign Minister, will review the progress of the electoral process, the evolution of the cooperation projects led by Brazil and the contribution of the Minustah in the security and stability in Haiti.

The Minister Antonio Patriota will announce a contribution of $300.000 from Brazil, for the completion of the second round of elections in Haiti. These funds will be donated to the Haitian electoral authorities through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said a source of official information.
