Two Haitians in prison for entry into the United States

Jean Dessalines, age 35, and Rosthy Pierre Charles, age 46, both of Haiti, were sentenced on December 14 to 24 days in jail and 17 days in jail, respectively, following their respective guilty pleas to illegally entering the United States from Canada. Dessalines and Charles each admitted that together they walked across the border about one-half mile east of the Champlain Port of Entry on December 4, 2017. They were arrested together by Border Patrol Agents as they walked south away from the border.
