Haiti - Insecurity : A journalist of Radio Kiskeya shot twice (UPDATE Feb. 10)

Jean Louis Charles Richard a journalist from the private station Radio Kiskeya was killed around noon at the corner of the street Capois and the ruelle Romain. This murder has caused consternation in the journalistic community.

The assailant shot down the journalist, of two 9mm bullets in the head, before being shot in his turn by a policeman who was off duty and who reacted immediately to the shots. The alleged killer would respond to the name of Jean Wilner Duperval. The police opened an investigation and gathered evidence, the reasons of this killing remains unknown at this time.

The candidate Mirlande Manigat visited a few hours later the radio station Kiskeya to express her condolences. Jean Louis Charles Richard was considered as one of the most active young journalists in the capital.

Radio Kiskeya has suspended its regular programming to play music of circumstance. HaïtiLibre joined to the Haitian press, to present its condolences to the family of Jean Charles Louis Richard, his fellow journalists and his friends.

Update évrier : Gary Durosier, the deputy spokesman of the National Plioce Haiti (PNH) has indicated that the hypothesis of an acquisitive crime is for the moment privileged. The investigation revealed that Jean Charles Louis Richard, was killed after making a withdrawal at the bank of about 1,000 U.S. dollars. Louis Charles was the victim of three attackers. He was shot in the head and shoulder while trying to resist to his attackers. The alleged killer was shot dead but the other two suspects are on the run.
