Tuesday, as part of the Sustainable Coastal Program including the Integrated Regional Land Use Planning Project in the South (RIAT South, launched in September 2015 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15031-haiti-tourism-30-tourist-projects-will-start-on-the-south-coast.html ) financed by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), Colombe Émilie Jessy Menos, the Minister of Tourism, accompanied by the Mayor of Aquin Sauvilhorme Mathurin and his deputies, Jean Robert Bossé, of Deputy of the constituency Jean Robert Bossé, Senator of the South, Richard Hervé Fourcand, members of the IDB team, inaugurated the pier in the commune of Aquin.

In her speech, Minister Menos declared "We reiterate our desire to carry out all tourism projects with the population and never without it. The inauguration of the dock is a step taken while waiting for the other steps."

Recalling that this pier at the seaside of the city of Aquin responds to the need to provide for the needs of users of this coast who previously were crossing over on a man's back, she added "This dock will help the many fishing activities undertaken by members of the population and increase the flow of tourists possible in the commune of Aquin." Taking advantage of this opportunity, Minister Menos presented the model of the construction of the Place d'Armes of Aquin, which is also included in the list of projects to be executed in this area.

Mayor Sauvilhorme Mathurin thanked the Haitian firm Ecomar engaged in the construction of this jetty for almost a year. He also mentioned projects that await the Ministry of Tourism including the exploration of a set of sites not yet listed, exploitable in terms of tourism.

It should be noted that Aquin, the entry city of the South Department, is the first concerned by the actions of the Ministry of Tourism aimed at providing coastal towns with basic infrastructure in order to exploit their tourist potential.
