Haiti - Security : Police officer Maxo stops his hunger strike

In a note, Heidi Fortuné, the Minister of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) informs the general public and officers of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in particular, that yesterday Thursday, December 7, the police officer Charles Santana Maxo ended his hunger strike he had been observing for three days in the Ministry's premises.

The police officer made this decision after an interview of nearly one hour with the Minister Fortuné who was accompanied by Jean Claudy Pierre, Director General of the Ministry and the Inspector General in chief of the PNH Ralph Stanley Jean Brice.

During this interview the police officer Maxo, assigned to the Brigade of Motorized Interventions (BIM) of the PNH, told the Minister of death threats that he would be the subject from some senior officers of the PNH, following the shooting death in early November of his wife Alshama Toussaint, also a member of the BIM https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22577-haiti-news-zapping.html

The Minister Fortuné promised the police officer to quickly make the administrative and legal follow-up necessary to the treatment of the file and took the opportunity to remind law enforcement officials that the deontological and legal provisions prohibit police officers from using the strike.
