Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Towards an increase and an enlargement of tax revenues...

Monday at the Fort-Royal Petit-Goâve Hotel, the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) launched the project to assess the fiscal potentialities of communes in the region of Palmes.

This project concerns Petit-Goâve, Grand-Goâve and Vialet and aims in particular: to evaluate and improve the tax revenues of these 3 cities; to identify the tax population; to broaden the tax base; to strengthen the staff, to boost the fiscal motivation; to develop tax incentive mechanisms and to inculcate community members with a tax culture.

The speakers took care to establish the difference between state taxes and local taxes "Paying the tax" is a citizen's duty," said officials of the DGI.

Among the personalities who participated in this launch, it is worth to mentioning among others: Lubonheur Lorédant Deputy Director General of the DGI, Henri Clsude César, Director of the Directorate of Analysis and Statisques of the DGI, the Director of the Office of Petit-Goâve and the Deputy Mayor, Délor Desgranges...

A municipal authority in Petit-Goâve said it was in favor of the forced recovery of mucipal taxes. However, the question of the application of new fiscal measures in Petit-Goâve, although essential, is raised, as he risk of angering residents at the announcement of these new measures and the capacity of the municipality has to face the possible social disorders...
