Haiti - Justice : The Minister of Justice warns the Commissioner of the Government

In a correspondence dated November 21, with the subject "Recommendation" Heidi Fortuné, the Minister of Justice and Public Security has warned the Commissioner of the Government at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince, Me Ocnam Clamé Daméus.

Letter from Minister Fortuné

"Mr Commissioner,

I have the opportunity today to congratulate you on the dynamism you have shown since your inauguration at the head of the largest jurisdiction in the pursuit of the Republic.

So, contribute to the emergence of a new perception of our justice, especially when we have to take into account the corruption facts to which our society expects a firm response. The Government in general takes note of it.

However, even if acts, however reprehensible they may be, should not remain unpunished, your status as Magistrate makes you the imperative to apply the law and to respect the principles, without any exception to the files submitted to your jurisdiction, given their origin to their nature or to the people who are involved in them.

Any conduct contrary to the prevailing republican norms would be likely to hinder the process of creating the rule of law, which is the element of all democratic societies.

Ensuring that upon receipt of these, my intervention will produce the desired effect."
