Wednesday the highest authorities of the Ministry of the Interior gave an update on the case of falsified checks https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22489-haiti-flash-network-of-counterfeiters-within-the-ministry-of-the-interior.html having been used to hack an account of the Ministry.

At this press conference, Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, the Minister of the Interior and Fednel Monchery, Director General, declared that the Ministry was not responsible for these dishonest acts.

"It is a mafia network that is the cause of misappropriation of state mone [...] We have discovered many accomplices in the state, in the private sector who are involved in this network that steals the money. Justice has come to discover this network which has long been involved in fraudulent transactions such as fake checks, credit card piracy, creation of fake companies and others... [...]

It is thanks to the collaboration, the vigilance, and the collaboration of the DG and the new administrators of the Ministry that already 12 accomplices in this case have been identified. The police in the context of the investigation of the Ministry discovered in the houses where it had a warrant to search, a lot of fraudulent material and equipment to make fake checks..." stating that the investigation is on the right track.

Max Rudolph Saint Albin pointed out that several national and international institutions are combining their efforts to complete this investigation and apprehend all the individuals who would be involved in this case. Among the individuals apprehended by the PNH in the context of this case, some were already the subject of search notices for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking and financial crimes.

The Minister of MITC took the opportunity to call on other Ministers to urge them to conduct regular bank reconciliations and use the online access service of their ministry's bank accounts. The Minister encourages the Professional Association of Banks (APB) to reinforce the regular procedures of control relating to the information of the customers.

The Minister Max Rudolph Saint Albin invites the public to trust the state institutions, while recalling that the Administration Moïse and the Lafontant Government intend to lead a flawless fight against corruption.
