Haiti - DR : Northern tourism operators want to establish a binational alliance

On the initiative of the Dominican-Haitian Chamber of Commerce (CCDH), tourist operators and tour operators from Cap Haitien and Puerto Plata met in Puerto-Plata with the aim of establishing an alliance that would promote the region North of the island of Hispaniola as a multi-destination tourist destination.

Have participated in this meeting among others: the Organization of Management of the Destinations of North of Haiti (OGDNH), which gathers Hoteliers of Cap-Haïtien, the Tourist Office of Puerto-Plata, the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Companies of the North and Tourist Cluster of Puerta-Plata.

Hoteliers and tour operators held separate meetings to analyze the next steps and discuss the multi-destination proposal.

Rosa Maria Garcia, president of the CCDH, said the multi-destination proposal to promote the attractions of Cap-Haitien and Puerto Plata will be able to "sow seeds for the development of tourism in the north of the island."

She called on businessmen from both countries to "give each other their hands to promote tourism between the two countries" and hoteliers in Puerto Plata invite and dedicate the next international tourism fair to Haiti.

Recall that it was in 2012 that the then Minister of Tourism, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, launched the multi-destination tourism project and signed the first agreements between Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-6030-haiti-tourism-agreements-of-multidestination-tourism.html and at the OPERTUR show of the Dominican Republic, was presented the same year a multi-destination tourism offer between Puerto-Plata and Cap-Haïtien https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-6962-haiti-tourism-the-dominican-republic-makes-the-promotion-of-tourism-in-haiti.html
