Following the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria, which caused loss of life and material damage in the Caribbean region, particularly in the Turks & Caicos Islands (TCI), in a spirit of solidarity and fraternity, the Government of Haiti on behalf of the Haitian people has made a large donation consisting of essential items and building materials to the people of the TCI (islands located less than 200 km from Turtle Island) and where there is a large community Haitian.

This gift including among others, 630 generators, 1,000 sheets of plywood, 4,500 tarpaulins, 2,000 gypsum plates and 4,000 sheets, arrived Monday, October 30 aboard the cargo ship Kristina directly from Port-au-Prince. These goods were donated by Jacques Adolphe the Consul of Haiti to TCI to Delroy Williams, Minister of the Interior, and Dr. Virginia Clerveaux, Director of the Department of Disaster Management & Emergencies, Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCGI).

Consul Adolphe said "it is our contribution to our neighbors the Turks and Caicos where so many of our compatriots reside and who consider this beautiful by nature country their second home [...]" On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, Antonio Rodrigue, former Ambassador to the Bahamas and TCI , the Consulate Office explained "this is our chance to return our gratitude for the years of being supported when we have been devastated by storms. It is a show of solidarity; we are acting on behalf of the people of Haiti."
