Haiti - Politics : The mayors of the West engage in the fight against corruption

Saturday at the Hotel Royal Decameron, on the Côte des Arcadins, the mayors of the West who participated since the day before in a training seminar, of information and awareness of two days on the fight against corruption around the theme " Towards the involvement of local elected representatives in the fight against corruption"signed at the end of this seminar, an act of commitment to actively fight corruption in their respective communities.

This symbolic act signed in the presence of Jude Edouard Pierre, President of the National Federation of Haitian Mayors (FENAMH) and Mayor of Carrefour, Major David Basile Director General of the Unit Against Corruption (ULCC) and Fednel Monchery Director General of the Ministry of the Interior, includes 11 resolutions.

These resolutions cover different spheres of intervention such as the prevention and repression of corruption in local governments; rationalization in the management of resources; good governance and good results-based management; transparency and accountability; increased involvement of citizens in the management of their communes; collaboration with the ULCC and the judicial authorities in the conduct of corruption investigations.

This seminar in favor of the fight against corruption in which is added the legal injunction, under the law of February 18, 2008 to complete the form on the declaration of wealth will stop next month in two other departments and so on until all the mayors of the republic are affected.
