Jude Alix Patrick Salomon, the Minister of the Economy and Finance has alerted Max Rudolph Saint Albin, the Minister of the Interior that his Ministry was the victim of organized fraud involving several million gourdes.

In a correspondence addressed to Minister St Albin, dated October 16th, Minister Salomon mentioned the case of several checks collected twice on account 111205088 of the Ministry of the Interior opened at the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH). He quotes: a check No. 65057 issued by the Ministry of the Interior with an amount of 50,000 gourdes cashed twice at the BRH for two different amounts: 50,000 and 3,132,000 gourdes on September 28th. A second check of the Ministry No. 65059 with an amount of 50,000 gourdes also cashed twice for two different amounts: 50,000 (September 25) and 3,150,000 Gdes 2 days later. A third check #65159 of 1.215 000 Gdes cashed on September 29th while this check number is still part of the blank checks held by the Ministry...

Minister Saint-Albin acknowledges the facts that there is a network of counterfeiters within his ministry, claiming that an administrative investigation is under way and that the case has been brought before the courts. However, he regrets that this information was found on social networks believing that it will make it more difficult to identify counterfeiters, who may flee, knowing their scam discovered...
