Haiti - Culture : Photo exhibition of Haiti, taken by children 28/01/2011 12:51:23
Within the framework of this project, FotoKonbit, in partnership with the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the United States, has organized three workshops in three different areas of the country in early January. Participants learned to use digital cameras under the direction of Haitian and American specialists. Through their photos, they expressed the effects of U.S. aid in their community while demonstrating the aspects needing further assistance. This initiative has enabled young people to share their lives, motivating them to participate actively in the development of their communities and get involved more to communicate their views and expectations regarding to the needs of their region. Photos will be on sale for the benefit of children during the exhibition. This exhibition will be held from Friday, January 28 until Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Galerie Monnin #19 of the street Lamarre in Pétion-Ville. The gallery is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday. Learn more about FotoKonbit : FotoKonbit is a movement of artists, photographers and educators who seek to engage and assist young Haitians to make known the history of their community through their work following the earthquake of January 12, 2010. This movement aims to create a positive impact in the best possible way through their photos.
