Haiti - Politic : The Lavalas Sit-in, few mobilizer

The sit-in organized by the Permanent Mobilization Commission (CMP) of Fanmi Lavalas, in front of the offices of the U.S. Embassy, in Tabarre, gathered less than a hundred participants. The protesters carried placards and banners, claiming vigorously, the return of President Aristide and the departure of the "occupation forces" (Minustah). They primarily required of the U.S. Government, an involvement in the return in Haiti of former President Jean Bertrand Aristide, exiled in South Africa since 2004.

René Civil, one of the protest leaders, said that Aristide's return is a way to "reuniting the Haitian society" and and to invite the members of the ruling party (INITE) to respect what he calls "the Lavalas cause". Civil indicated that Aristide was not above the law and that the former President would respond in court of all the allegations against him.

Dr. Maryse Narcisse, the coordinator of the executive committee of Fanmi Lavalas, has denounced for its part, the interference of the international community in Haiti's political affairs, stressing that if the international community is the key of the exclusion, Fanmi Lavalas has the means to put an end to this exclusion.

Ansyto Felix, spokesperson of the CMP said that 2011 will be the decisive year for Fanmi Lavalas to obtain satisfaction to their claims, citing: the return of President Aristide, the cancellation of the elections, the installation of a new government and new inclusive elections.

Les dirigeants ont exprimés leur soutien au groupe des 12, et aux secteurs qui réclament l'annulation des élections du 28 Novembre 2010.
