Haiti - Jacmel : Inauguration of the semi-autonomous Centre of the electricity (EDH)

The Semi-autonomous Centre of the electricity (EDH) of Jacmel, has inaugurated Friday, January 21, its new premises located at the corner of Rue Pétion and Sainte Augustine. This new facility will house the administrative section of the institution, which operated under a tent since the earthquake of January 2010 had severely damaged the old administration building.

Several prominent figures attended the opening ceremony, including the engineer Jean Antoine Hyppolite, deputy commercial director of provincial towns, the Reverend Pastor Dieucin Marcelin, the head of the mission strict tabernacle of the Southeast and staff working at the Centre.

The engineer Richelet Mercure, in his statements, took the occasion to criticize certain state institutions that refuse to pay their bills "These institutions have a debt of more than 60 million gourdes with EDH. This amount would allow a power plant to provide 24 hours of electricity for several weeks," lamented the ingenious Mercure.

The latter also reported that an demarche will be undertaken by Ramilus Bolivar, the delegate of the South East with the Haitian government in this regard to enable EDH to recover these funds.

The director of the Semi-autonomous Centre of the electricity of Jacmel, the engineer Mercure, reiterated the determination of his institution, to continue to provide to the public a service of quality .
