Haiti - FLASH : The Ministry reveals a large school fraud

Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, revealed on Monday that, following an investigation by the Ministry, a fraud of more than 3 million Gourdes, involving 68 school principals had been uncovered. These directors would have fraudulently pocketed for personal purposes the fees of 750 Gourdes claimed by the Ministry to the students that failed in the bac.

The officials of these institutions, instead of depositing these funds to the National Credit Bank (BNC) have handed to their Departmental Directorate fake receipts for payment of the BNC, confirming deposits that had never existed...

Jean Nelson Pierre, the Coordinator of the General Directorate of the Ministry indicated that these directors who risk the prison, will be put in the hands of the justice to explain.

The Minister said that among these alleged fraudsters are 4 Ministry inspectors, a deputy mayor and a pastor declaring, "This is extremely serious, it proves the degeneration of our society." He confirmed that the files of the accused had been transferred Monday to the office of the Secretary of State for Public Security for follow-up with the Government Commissioner that will put justice in motion against the accused.
