Haiti - Jacmel : The city is ready for the 19th edition of Carnival

All arrangements are already taken at the level of the town hall of Jacmel to organize the 19th edition of the Carnival of Jacmel. According to Edwin Zenny, the mayor of the city, all entities are mobilized to achieve this cultural event. The first citizen of the city of Alcibiade Pommayrac, reported that a demand of 10 million gourdes is made with the Haitian government for organizing this celebration.

In addition, Edwin Zenny said that some private companies have already responded positively to sponsor the carnival of Jacmel, including the telephone company Voila. "Part of these funds will be reserved for the construction of houses for some victims of the earthquake of January 2010." said Edwin Zenny.

For his part, Sagesse Ovilma, the head of Public Security of the Jacmel police station, during a meeting with the press, provided a new time schedule for the walk Bands and sound groups. Walk Bands should invest the streets until 6 pm and the sound groups from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. This measure is taken to maintain security in the town of Jacmel during the Carnival period.

Note that last Sunday, during the second day pre carnival, individuals threw stones and bottles against a walk Band "Le Maestro" [composed of several maestros of the Bands of the city]. The incident occurred in the lower city, several injuries were reported. The police have arrested a young boy who had involved in this act of violence.

Some "carnavaliers" have pointed the supporters, clearly identified of the presidential platform INITE, who sow disorder in the walk Bands.
