Haiti - Economy : Inflation at the threshold of 16%

In June 2017, the General Consumer Price Index (base 100 in August 2004) rose to 309.3 compared to 306 the previous month, with monthly growth of + 1.1% (+ 1.5% in May) for an annualized inflation of 15.8% (15.5% in May).

The monthly increase in inflation is mainly due to the behavior of consumption functions: "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" (+ 1.1%), "Clothing, fabrics, footwear" (+ 1.8%), And Water "(+ 1.7%) and" Health "(+ 0.9%).

The positive change in the index "Food, Beverages and Tobacco", which represents over 50% of the household budget is dure, among other of the rise of : millet (+ 4.3%), bread (+ 1.1%), beef (+ 1.8%), pork (+ 1.8%), goat meat (+ 2.4%), Fresh fish (+ 2.2%), salt herring (+ 1.6%), bananas (+ 2.1%), giraumon (+ 1.7%), whiskey (+ 2.1% ), Leek (+ 2.1%), aubergine (+ 1.3%), cabbage (+ 1.4%), onion (+ 1.2%), garlic (2.1%), tomato (+ 1.7%), malanga (+ 1.7%), potato (+ 2.4%), potato (+ 1.7% ), The real tree (+ 2.6%), orange (+ 1.7%), chadka (+ 2.2%) and papaya (+ 1.3%).

The increase in the "Apparel, Fabrics and Shoes" index is particularly linked to prices of : fabric (+ 2.8%), shirt (+ 1.7%), men's tee-shirt (+ 1.6%), trousers (+1.25), dress (+ 1.1%), garment manufacturing (+ 2.5%) and sandals (+ 1.9%).

The increase in the "Rent of Housing, Energy and Water" index is mainly due to the rise in housing rent (+ 2.3%) and water supply (+ 1.8%).

Finally, the upward trend observed in the "Health" index is mainly related to fees paid to doctors (+ 1.0%) and laboratory analysis costs (+ 1.7%).
