Haiti - Duvalier : Reactions of Amnesty International to the charges against "Baby Doc"
Amnesty International recognizes that the charges against Jean-Claude Duvalier is a positive step, but found insufficient the accusations of corruption, theft and embezzlement charged against former President Duvalier.
"If we truly want justice to be rendered in Haiti, Haitian authorities must open a criminal investigation into the responsibility of Jean-Claude Duvalier in the multitude of human rights abuses committed while he was in power, including torture, arbitrary detentions, rapes, forced disappearances and extrajudicial executions." declared Javier Zuñiga, special advisor at Amnesty International.
