Haiti - Politics : School sport, one of the priorities of Minister Lamur

Sunday at Park Gérard Christophe of Léogane, Régine Lamur, the Minister of Youth and Sports participated in the final of the first Cup of Interschool Champions of West which gathered from 13 to 18 June 2017, the football champions of Pétion-Ville, Thomassin, Delmas, Carrefour, Léogâne, Grand-Goâve, Petit-Goâve and Cabaret in a knockout competition.

Minister Lamur kicked off the finals won by the College Chrétien of Grand-Goâve [1-0] at the expense of the Institut Maison Oeuvre of éogane with a goal from Claude Helton Sanon in the 10th Minute of play.

Before handing the trophy to the champions, Minister Lamur congratulated all the teams who participated in this Cup for their talent and commitment, and the West Departmental Directorate (DDO) for the success of this pilot and all those who made it possible and reiterated her commitment to work towards the development of sport in schools, aware of the importance of infrastructures essential to sport.

"We will work with the Ministry of Education to integrate sport into the school curriculum," promised Minister Lamur. "Children who have sports skills must have the means to exploit them." She ensures that, regardless of the budget envelope that will be allocated to her ministry, she will continue to work with determination, take the most initiatives possible and will undertake activities to the benefit of sport.
