Haiti - Quebec : Prospecting mission of the Ministry of National Education

A delegation of the Ministry of National Education of Haiti, composed of the heads of the DEF, the DES, the DCQ, of the Directorate General, the Minister's Office, a Rector of public universities, the DFP as well as a representative of the Unesco Office in Haiti, stay in Montreal (Quebec) since June 12, as part of a mission of study and research of partnership opportunities with Canada for the strengthening of the Haitian Educational system.

This five-day mission was organized by the Unesco Office in Haiti as part of a project to support the quality of education funded by Canadian cooperation.

This is basically to find new opportunities and identify the best Canadian practices able to contribute to improving the quality of education, including through the improvement of learning through the training of teachers.

The reform of curricula, the new secondary, higher education and vocational training are on the menu of the delegation's exchanges with Canadian partners who are in favor of strengthening cooperation with Haiti in education.

The Haitian delegation has already met or will meet during its mission with officials from: Canadian Bureau for International Education and Global Affairs Canada; University of Ottawa; The University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), the Polytechnic University and Laval University among others.

Initial exchanges foreshadow new opportunities for capacity-building of Haiti's Ministry of Education and support for major reform projects under way in the education sector. The delegation is already showing some satisfaction with the progress of the mission, notably on possible areas for future cooperation.

The delegation will return to Haiti on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
