Haiti - Justice : Haitian fugitive accused of double murder, captured to Santo and extradited to USA
Jean Weevens Janvier (34), of Haitian origin, charged in 2012 for the first degree murders of Stephanie and Judith Emile in their apartment in Harlem in November 2011, had been on the run and wanted for over 5 years by police Boston and the Suffolk County Attorney's Office. He was finally found and arrested by the National Police of Haiti (PNH) while he lived hidden in Santo at his mother's.
The U.S. Marshals Service declared that it had "worked closely with the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service and a unit composed of Haitian National Police to prioritize this case and coordinate efforts to locate Janvier."
Jean Weevens Janvier was captured by the Haitian police and his identity confirmed by his fingerprints, said the Marshals Service. He was extradited the same day to the United States after being detained by the Haitian police, which offered an "exceptional performance" for the capture of January, according to a statement by US officials.

Daniel F. Conley, Suffolk County District Attorney, declared "For more than five years, the family of two murdered sisters has waited patiently to see justice done. Today they are one step closer to that goal. Thanks to the strong interagency partnership among Suffolk prosecutors, the US Marshals Service, US Attorney’s office, Diplomatic Security Service, Boston Police Department, and Haitian National Police, we intend to speak for Judith and Stephanie Emile in a Suffolk County courtroom, where the voices that were stolen from them will finally be heard."
