Haiti - Politics : Meeting between PM and Presidents of Associations of Mayors

On Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant gathered the Presidents of the Associations of Mayors of the West, South, Southeast, Grand'Anse, Nippes, Center, Artibonite, North and North-West, as a prelude to the meeting on Tuesday, May 30, with the National Council for Natural Risk Management.

The meeting allowed among others to the presidents of associations of mayors of South, Nippes and Grand'Anse, of exposing the situation in their regions hit hard by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. They raised many issues faced by their municipalities in particular the lack of equipment for sanitation work.

Several avenues of solutions were evoked at this meeting.

The Prime Minister reiterated the will of the Government to continue to provide answers to the problems of these disaster departments. He also took the opportunity to recall his personal commitment to pursue the actions already under way and promised to establish a permanent dialogue between the Prime Minister and the country's town halls.
