Haiti - Politics : Moïse seeks to encourage investment

Thursday, President Jovenel Moïse went to the Digneron Industrial Park and then to the Caribbean Harvest fish farm https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13270-haiti-agriculture-the-caribbean-harvest-will-double-its-production-of-tilapia.html in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets both to encourage the development of the country's leading sectors, including the textile sector (second source of currency for Haiti after transfers from the diaspora), promote the fish farming sector in Haiti and reassure and encourage private investors.

At the Digneron Industrial Park, he met with Haitian and Korean businessmen, the Board of Directors of the Association of Industries of Haiti (AIDH), the Parliamentarians of the West and the Mayor of the Croix-des-Bouquets, Rony Colin. The Head of State spoke, among other things, of the importance of developing more fiscal and financial incentives to stabilize the development of this sector. Accompanying workers through social programs and creating professional centers with training adapted to the technical infrastructures of the Industrial Parks in Haiti, are all measures that must, according to the Head of State, contribute to the strengthening of the textile sector.

Subsequently, President Moïse went to Caribbean Harvest where he met, among others, the Board of Directors, Representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID - Haiti), including Robin Padberd and Ken Smarzik and members of the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministries of Agriculture. He inter alia spoke of the reform of the fishing system in Haiti, the development of trades, the strengthening of professional capacities in this sector and finally the provision of financing and an appropriate legal framework for Haitian and foreign investors.

The President intends to continue his visits to private companies in the country to give an unequivocal signal of his administration's will to encourage private investment for the benefit of the country's economic development.
