The Lucienne Deschamps Foundation launched this week the 42nd edition of the Henri Deschamps 2017 Literary Prize. This competition is open to all Haitians whether you are a aspiring writer or not, French and/or Creole-speaking residents in the country or abroad. The number of pages of the manuscript is at the discretion of the author. Writers are invited to submit their manuscript on paper as well as a digital version.

General provisions in force for participation in the literary competition 2017 :

• The Prize is open to all literary genres in French or Creole ;

• The right to participate is free and open to all authors of both sexes, whether they reside in Haiti or abroad ;

• 7 copies of the manuscript on paper (on the front page 81/2 x 11 or format A4 in word file, character size 14 and double spaced), must be deposited at the head office of the Luciennne Deschamps Foundation located at the corner of Grégoire a nd Chavannes, 2nd floor, Petion-Ville before the deadline

• A version of the manuscript in PDF format should be sent to : prixlitterairedeschamps@fld.org

• The works already published as well as the winners of a previous Prix Littéraire Henri Deschamps are not admitted to the competition ;

• Only one manuscript is allowed per application. The work can be an individual or collective production ;

• The manuscript must be completed and full text.

Deadlines: The deposition start date is Monday, April 17, 2017 and te deadline for submission of manuscripts is Monday, May 15, 2017.

Prize :

The Laureate receives a certificate and a scholarship of 150,000 gourdes. La Maison Henri Deschamps will be the exclusive publisher of the award-winning work, which will remain the intellectual property of its author. In addition, the winner will receive promotional support during the 12 months (For further details see Articles 21-22 and 23 of Regulation www.fondationluciennedeschamps.org/home/reglements/ )

Peter Frisch, the General Director of the Maison Henri Deschamps reminds us that "If the works submitted, as last year, are considered of too low quality, the jury can renounce to award the prize [...] The jury looks for the quality of the work submitted to maintain the level of the Prize."
