Haiti - NOTICE : Argentina offers temporary residence to Haitian victims...

Monday, the National Directorate of Migration in Argentina, published in the Argentine official newspaper its decision to authorize for a period of 6 months "the granting of temporary residence [...] to the nationals of the Republic of Haiti" victim of Hurricane Matthew's passage...

To benefit from this decision, Haitian applicants must have entered Argentina as tourists before 1 March 2017 and present a valid current passport, proof of official entry into the country, a certificate of absence of criminal record and the legal declaration of absence of international criminal record.

If the person has dependent children, "it must prove the relationship of filiation by presenting the birth certificate(s) duly legalized by the Argentine Consulate or the Hague Convention Apostille or legalized by the onsulate of Haiti accredited in Argentina."

The Argentine government justifies its decision by the fact that "Haiti has suffered in recent years from direct impacts and the consequences of repeated natural disasters."
