The latter was then the subject of a debate where the deputies had five minutes each to express their ideas, to ask questions to the appointed Prime Minister, raising the shortcomings for their respective commune, presenting their complaints... and the PM answering their questions and making new promises if necessary...

Then was read Article 158 of the 1987 Constitution amended "Prime Minister in agreement with the President chooses the members of his Cabinet of Ministers and appears before Parliament to obtain a vote of confidence on his General Policy statement. Voting is by public ballot and with at an absolute majority of each of the two (2) Houses. In the case of a vote of no confidence by one of the two (2) Houses, the procedure is repeated."

A little more organized than in the Senate the debate took place by department but still lasted more than 12 hours!

The PM needed 60 votes for its General Policy Statement to be accepted.

This Tuesday at 9:04 a.m. the vote took place, the general policy statement of the Prime Minister appointed Jack Guy Lafontant obtained in the Chamber of Deputies, 95 for, 6 against, 2 abstentions.

"Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant's general policy statement is adopted with 95 votes in favor, 6 against, 2 abstentions, and the office presents its congratulations to the Prime Minister and we invite the Prime Minister and the members of his government to work in the immediate future to be able to address the problems of the country. Thank you and good luck," declared the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies

Now the Prime Minister appointed must be installed in his functions by the President of the Republic Jovenel Moïse.
