Haiti - FLASH : The General Policy Statement is accepted by the Senate

Following the presentation of the General Policy of Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20374-haiti-flash-general-policy-of-pm-jack-guy-lafontant-debates-still-ongoing.html , the latter was the subject of a debate that began around 11:30 pm and lasted until 6:23 am this Thursday, where senators expressed their ideas, asked questions to the Prime Minister appointed, raising the shortcomings for their respective department, presenting their grievances... and the PM responding with new promises...

Then was read Article 158 of the 1987 Constitution amended "Prime Minister in agreement with the President chooses the members of his Cabinet of Ministers and appears before Parliament to obtain a vote of confidence on his General Policy statement. Voting is by public ballot and with at an absolute majority of each of the two (2) Houses. In the case of a vote of no confidence by one of the two (2) Houses, the procedure is repeated."

The quorum just before the vote was 28 senators present.

The PM needed 16 votes for its General Policy Statement to be accepted.

This Thursday, March 16 at 6:26 a.m. the vote took place, the general policy statement of Prime Minister appointed Jack Guy Lafontant obtained in the Senate, 20 for, 0 against, 7 abstentions.

Now the Prime Minister appointed Jack Guy Lafontant must appear before the Chamber of Deputies to also try to obtain a vote of confidence.
