Monday at the National Palace, the day after the terrible road accident in Gonaives https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20343-haiti-flash-terrible-road-drama-in-gonaives-at-least-34-dead.html , President Jovenel Moïse in a press conference, promised to ensure order and discipline on our roads during his five-year term, in order to put an end to bad practices on public roads. "I have ordered the members of my cabinet to establish an office immediately to organize in particular the transport of people and to reinforce safety on the roads."

"There is no road sign, road police is insufficient, there is not enough ambulance in case of problems, hospitals are not identified... In all the other countries it is not like that, wit can not be at home ? [...] Haiti is not an exceptional country !" deplored Jovenel Moïse, who advocates a more rigorous and regular vehicle inspection as well as better driver training. "To drive a truck, it can not be the same driving license that for a small car !"

A presidential delegation visited the city of Gonaïves to meet the mayor and families of the deceased in order to plan the funeral.

Last news : The death toll from the accident increased from 34 to 38. Four wounded have since died in the hospital.
