Haiti - Culture : The RAM Group will not participate in the Port-au-Prince Carnival

Sunday, the Mayor of Port-au-Prince and the Organizing Committee of the Carnival announced that the Musical Group RAM, previously retained to participate in the Carnival [and announced in the Sunday publicity] will not be part of the party for reasons beyond their control.

The Mayor and the Committee wish to emphasize that their numerous efforts in conjunction with the RAM Group to have a company capable of ensuring the sound of the group on time have proved unsuccessful, in addition the Committee recalls that the budgetary constraints [reduction of the budget from 200 million to 80 million Gourdes https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20194-haiti-news-zapping-politics.html ] to which it is faced led it to make difficult and courageous choices.

"The Mayor and the Organizing Committee apologize to the RAM Group, the Carnavaliers of the disappointment that could result from the absence of the group on the course of the carnival parade in Port-au-Prince and wishes everyone a happy Carnival 2017."

However, beyond these "official explanations", Richard Auguste Morse the leading figure of the RAM Group has a position divergent. Indeed, Saturday, on the Twitter account of RAM, managed largely by Richard Morse, he suggested that relations with the Organizing Committee was rather bad, he accused the mayor of Port-au-Prince of using the name of RAM to promote its carnival in advertising on the festivities claiming on Twitter "RAM pa gen char. RAM pat janm gen char. Tout se manti."
