Haiti - Politics : Privert to the Presentation of Post-Matthew needs document

On Friday, under the high patronage of de facto President Jocelerme Privert, Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning, in the presence of François Anick Joseph, the Minister of the Interior, accredited ambassadors in Haiti, representatives of the International cooperation and representatives of UN agencies, presented the outline of the document "PDNA 2016" which assessed the needs of the people after the passage of Hurricane Matthew on Haiti last October.

The purpose of this document, according to Minister Fleurant, is to provide the next government with the means to develop better recovery strategies in the perspective of a threefold territorial, economic and social refounding of the peninsula of the Great South and the affected areas.

In his speech for the occasion, Jocelerme Privert highlighted environmental vulnerability, economic and social of Haiti and called for a constant struggle to reduce the risks associated with the vulnerability of our environment, which is necessary to prevent the damage that can be caused by major natural hazards, welcoming the preparation of a document crucial for future generations.

In his speech, Aviol Fleurant stressed that the objective of this document is to indicate the path of resilience in the perspective of sustainable development, underlining that "the PDNA is not intended to replace development plans, programs and projects," he also reminded political decision-makers that Haiti was on a hurricane trajectory and that the taking risks into account must now be the background of the broad development orientations.
