Haiti - DR : Two Haitians found dead, riddled with bullets

Wednesday in the agricultural community of Ojeda, municipal section "Cerro en Medio" in the Dominican Republic, two Haitian nationals Betoni Anesa, 24 years old and Marc Dorisca, 23, were found dead, the bodies bullet-riddled.

According to his brother's testimony, Mark Dorisca was reported to have left his home located in the neighborhood of Caamaño with Betoni Anesa to go to Ojeda where he had several charcoal ovens. Anxious not to see him return, his brother went to look for him and made the macabre discovered.

Members of the Dominican Criminal Investigations Department have opened an investigation to try to identify the perpetrators and clarify the circumstances of the crimes. The bodies were lifted by the coroner, Juan Bolivar Cuevas and the victims were transported to the morgue of the hospital of St. Bartholomew, before being transferred to the Forensic Institute of Azua for autopsy.

It should be noted that charcoal production is an illegal and severely punished activity in the Dominican Republic and that these clandestine activities are generally under the control of smuggling networks which often operate under the protection and complicity of certain corrupt Dominican soldiers.
