Haiti - Elections : D-6 Signature of Integrated Electoral Security Plan
Monday at the National Palace, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, brought together all national and international partners, around the organization of the second round of the legislative and local elections scheduled for Sunday 29 January.

The meeting was attended by members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), including President Léopold Berlanger, Ministers Camille Jr. Edouard (Justice), François A. Joseph (Interior), Yves Romain Bastien (Economy), Aviol Fleurant (Planning), Chief of the Minustah Mrs Sandra Honoré, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), Mr. Michel-Ange Gédéon and representatives of the UN System in Haiti (UNDP and UNOPS).

Discussions focused on electoral observation, security, protection of election materials, and funding. The various actors have also promised to take all necessary measures to promote a climate of peace and security conducive to the holding of good elections.

Later, in the morning, still at the National Palace, PNH and Minustah signed an Integrated Electoral Security Plan. The Plan was concluded at the end of a symposium at the logistical base of MINUSTAH between the PNH partners and the various departmental heads of the police institution, each of whom presented their respective Security Plan.

No fewer than 12,000 PNH and UNPOL officers will be deployed nationwide next Sunday to facilitate the smooth running of the elections.
