In a statement, the President of the Electoral Council, Gaillot Dorsinvil, said that following the events that marked the first round of elections of November 28, 2010, and in order to restore the confidence of those involved in the process in particular and the population in general, President of the Republic has asked the Organization of American States (OAS), an expert mission to support the verification of the tabulation of votes and legal assistance to cover the litigation stage of the electoral process in strengthening of the observer mission already there. Pending completion of the litigation stage and the completion of the work of the OAS mission, the CEP had decided to postpone the publication of final results of the first round.

In addition he clarifies the dispositions for the continuation of the electoral process :

1) The decisions of the Departmental Electoral Challenges Office (BCED) in relation to the contestations already processed will be displayed immediately in the Departmental Electoral Offices (BED), respectives.

2) The pending contestations will be heard and their results will be displayed from the date of this until December 26, 2010, at the diligence of the BCED.

3) The expert mission to support the verification of the Tabulation of Votes

OAS will conduct its work from December 27 to 30 ,2010.

Final results in early January ? Nothing is less certain, the Ambassador of France, Didier Le Bret, said in an interview this week on a radio of the Capital that the results could be published in early February 2011 ...
