The President of the Republic of China (Taïwan) Tsai Ing-wen congratulated the newly elected Haitian President, Jovenel Moïse, who was officially declared the winner of the presidential election of Novemeber 20 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19698-haiti-presidential-2016-final-results-jovenel-moise-58th-president.html announced Thursday in a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan.

The statement states that Taiwan is looking forward to continued cooperation with Haiti's new government to improve the welfare of the people in both countries.

The Taiwanese Chancellery recalls that Taiwan and Haiti have had diplomatic relations since 1956 and of exchanges and close collaboration on programs in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, public health and vocational training.
