Haiti - FLASH : Situation unchanged at CTV, date of results maintained...

The verification continues at the Vote Tabulation Centre (CTV) without the presence of the 3 protesting parties who left Thursday the verification site, protesting against the application by the electoral court, of article 77 of the regulation of litigation https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19598-haiti-flash-the-bcen-applies-the-regulation-the-protesters-leave-the-ctv.html which limits their actions and prevents them from physically manipulating the minutes and making repeated objections and comments during the verification, thus delaying the process even further, whereas there are only 5 days left until the final results of the presidential election are published, scheduled for 29 December according to the revised electoral calendar.

Pierre Espérance, the Executive Director of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH), believes that the verification must continue in serenity, but that the Office of National Electoral Litigation (BCEN) must reach an agreement with all the political parties in order to stop the climate of confrontation.

Jocelyne Colas Noël, the National Director of the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace, deplored the excessive and intransigent behavior of the representatives of the protesting parties, which made the situation very difficult at the CTV.

Face of tensions between the electoral tribunal and the opposition parties, several observers fear that the results of the presidential election will be postponed. However, to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Nicole Siméon, the Spokesperson for the CEP stated that so far, the date of December 29 is still maintained.

According to the former CEP President, Max Mathurin, although the verification may have an impact on the electoral calendar, it is necessary for the credibility of the process...

For its part, the Platform "Pitit Dessalin" demanded the intervention of the National Identification Office (ONI) and the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) at the CTV and announced the beginning of a series of streets demonstrations in support of its request, the first having already taken place on Friday...
