Haiti - Elections : No candidate is authorized to self-declare elected

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has the duty to remind the general population, political parties, political groups and candidates in particular that the results of the first round of the presidential elections of 20 November 2016 are preliminary https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19370-haiti-flash-preliminary-results-1st-round-elections-20-november-2016.html and that they will become final only after the contestation period, ie on December 29 according to the calendar of the CEP.

Accordingly, in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Decree in force, the Council invites parties, political groups and candidates concerned to refrain from proclaiming themselves elected.

The Council remains the only competent body to certify the victory of a candidate by the official proclamation of the final results, under Article 188 of the Electoral Decree.
