Friday, de facto President Jocelerme Privert visited the rehabilitation site of the premises of the Villa d'Accueil in Bourdon, in order to inquire about the progress of the 2,700 m2 building heavily damaged by the earthquake 12 January 2010, work included in a resolution dated May 2011.

Welcomed by Clément Bélizaire, the Head of the Housing and Public Buildings Unit (UCLBP), the Head of State traveled through the various floors of the building which had been badly damaged by the earthquake of 12 January 2010. This visit also follows the holding throughout the week of a series of meetings with the relevant authorities with a view to a better understanding of all suspended projects (Ministry of the Interior, of the Commerce, the Hugo Chavez Public Square, the Villa d’accueil, the Carrefour Viaduct, and Guy Malary Airport) and the real causes of their incompleteness.

"Today I came to inquire about what it takes to complete the rehabilitation of the Villa d'accueil, with a view to the arrival of a new President at the head of the country," affirmed Privert, who recalled the urgent need for Haiti to have welcoming capacities to receive foreign dignitaries.

According to Ingénieur Bélizaire, part of the work, including structural repairs, has already been completed 100%. "We are supposed to have everything we need to finish the work. Even though we do not have a budget for development, we have a well-defined development plan. All materials are available and on site. We are only waiting for the green light from the Ministry of Planning. We have already selected the firm that will be in charge of the supervision of the works."

The Head of State insisted on the need to evaluate the work already carried out by the failing firm, to analyze whether they actually correspond to the funds already invested and what are the procedures for negotiating with a new firm so that the work can be completed before the arrival of the new President at the head of the country in 2017...
