Humanitarian distribution, growing tension

The delivery of humanitarian assistance continues to be met with tension, either during distribution or in areas that are yet to receive assistance. Looting of trucks transporting humanitarian supplies has been frequent. Tensions could be exacerbated in the run up to the upcoming elections as the delivery of assistance is expected to slow down. This is due to the anticipated reassignment of security forces from escorting humanitarian convoys to securing polling stations.

Candidates for the presidency : what they said

Jude Célestin (LAPEH):

Jovenel Moïse (PHTK) :

"The election day of November 20th is a great opportunity for the Haitian people to choose between anarchy and democracy; Between sustainable development and political violence [...]"

Jean-Henry Céant (Remen Ayiti) :

"[...] the only useful vote on November 20th is the one that corresponds to your convictions. Your support and your number at each of my displacements is the best of surveys."

Appeal to women and young people

Monday on a radio of the capital Marie Frantz Joachim, the Secretary General of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), launched an appeal to women and young people to vote on Sunday. She recalled "Young people, who account for 65%, and women, 52%, are social categories, who can decide who will lead the country. Their lack of participation as well as a bad choice of their part in the elections of 20 November would be their responsibility."
