Haiti - FLASH : Emergency decontamination of the Petit-Goâve police station

Following the death on Saturday morning in his cell of a detainee, Almando Merveille (36) victim of cholera, the local branch of the Haitian Red Cross in Petit-Goâve, together with the French Red Cross and Médecins du Monde, urgently proceeded to the decontamination of the police station of the city which serves as prison and placed under observation about 20 inmates with episodes of diarrhea, whose two of them were completely dehydrated. 6 prisoners had to be hospitalized.

The Justice of the Peace, Me Valembrun, who made the legal declaration, took the opportunity to ask the central authorities to take all the necessary sanitary measures to stop the spread of cholera in the commune of Petit-Goâve, which for some days is facing a serious increase in cases, particularly in the city center.
