Haiti - Politics : Sénatus files two draft codes of laws
Wednesday, Sen. Jean Renel Sénatus, aka "zokiki", tabled in one of the rare plenary sessions of the Senate, two draft codes of laws : one on the internal security of the State and the other on the family.
The draft code of laws on State internal security includes, among others, a bill on the marketing, possession and port of firearms in Haiti, motorcycle trafficking, State authorization to install video surveillance cameras in public places, land secutity, including in the cases of land despoilment and a law on municipal police to better combat and control the movement of criminals in the territory.
In the draft of family laws, it is question among other things : of the ban on the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to minors. The criminalization of the sale of marijuana, the abolition of the detention of children in prison, the obligations of the State to supervise and protect children and also to provide them with identification at birth.
