Haiti - Elections : D-13, high-level meeting at the National Palace

Monday at the National Palace, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles and François Anick Joseph ministers (Interior), Yves Romain Bastien (Economy), Jacques Evelt Eveillard (Public Works) met with various national and international partners involved in the electoral process.

The progress of the rehabilitation works of the voting centers and the security of elections, were registered in the agenda of this working session to which also took part Léopold Berlanger Junior, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Uder Antoine the Executive Director of CEP, Sandra Honoré, Head of the UN Mission and executives of the Minustah, Himler Rebu, Secretary of State for Public Security, Michel-Ange Gédéon, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), representatives of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), of Directors General of the Housing Construction and Public Buildings Unit (UCLBP) and the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) among others.

Saying to be very concerned about the socio-political and economic conditions of the country, Privert called for the collaboration of all stakeholders to promote the holding of elections on 20 November. He urged the authorities concerned by the rehabilitation of voting centres in areas affected by the hurricane Matthew to make every effort to meet the deadline of 13 November set by the CEP.

The various participants have shown goodwill and have pledged to work towards the success of the election on 20 November.
