Reacting to the announcement of the Minister of National Education to gradually reopen schools in areas affected by the hurricane Matthew, especially in the department of Grand'Anse from this Monday, November 7; the unionist Josué Mérilien, General Coordinator of the National Union of Haitian Normaliennes and Normaliens (UNNOH), says that this gradual reopening can not be effective because the State did not create the necessary conditions.

For Mérilien "The gradual reopening of classes will be mainly for parents who have the means and the majority of children of the poorest families, will roam on the streets..."
